Ngarrindjeri 1923 Petition

80 years ago, on December 21st 1923, Ngarrindjeri people prepared a
to the Governor of South Australia from Ngarrindjeri mothers calling on the
Governor to repeal an Act authorising the taking of Aboriginal children from
their families at the age of 14 to institutions for "training".

A commemoration of this event will be held outside Government House on
Wednesday December 17th from approx. 5.15 p.m after which Her Excellency
will receive a contemporary petition from the representatives of the
Ngarrindjeri Nation at 5.30 p.m.

The Ngarrindjeri Tendi asks supporters to gather in Tarndanyangga from
4.30PM to join them in their walk to Government House.

The re-enactment petition is being made available (above) for you to download and
photocopy so you and your friends can endorse it asap.

Please bring your copy of the petition, fully endorsed by your friends
and/or supporters group to the commemoration on 17 December at Government
